Dear Member
2011 MORE CHALLENGES AHEAD!!
Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your efforts and contributions over the last 12 months to the wide range of issues and challenges that the fishing industry has encountered.
The CFPO is regarded at the highest level as one of the most progressive and effective fishing organisations in the UK and that is only possible because of you.
It has been another tough year for fishing on many fronts and that looks set to continue!
There are many big issues facing the fishing industry in the coming year. 2011 will be of course dominated by the much needed review of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) at a European level which is due to completed during 2012.
Domestically Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) will be one of the most significant threats the industry has ever faced and our involvement at local and national level through the MPA Coalition will be vital in defending our interests.
As always there will be many other challenges that effect CFPO members and we will be endeavouring to vigorously defend the interest of all of our members.
The CFPO is your organisation and any concerns, views or experiences you have are welcomed at any time and appreciated by us.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and hopefully a prosperous new year!
Yours sincerely
Paul Trebilcock
Chief Executive
